Continuing their dominance in the collegiate bowling world, Wichita State University captured their 3rd consecutive ITC Title. The win marks the third consecutive national title for the Shockers, who won in 2008 and 2009.

The Shockers now tie the record of consecutive national championships set by Wichita State in ’93, ’94 and ‘95.

Brunswick Bowling has sponsored Wichita State University’s Shocker bowling team for 20 years. The Brunswick bowling balls that helped the Shockers roll to victory were the Wild Card, Diamondback and Rattler performance balls.

After leading qualifying and setting the record score for 32 baker games at 6,856 (214.25 average), the Shocker men danced through matchplay undefeated, winning 16 of 18 total games played. “They did a good job of being a great team as opposed to a collection of great bowlers,” said Wichita State bowling coach, Gordon Vadakin.

Senior and recently named Bowling Writer’s Association of America Player of the Year, Blanchard along with senior teammate, co-captain and First Team All-American, Szczerbinski anchored the Shockers.

The Shocker men have had an extremely successful season. Earlier this year, they won six of ten tournaments and finished no less than fifth throughout the year. In addition to national champions, the Shockers continue a streak of 7-0 when faced in the championship match since their last loss in 1992.

  1. I graduated from Wichita State U, but I had not been keeping tabs on my alma mater! I did not know that we have become a bowling juggernaut! Congratulations! Go for the fourth in 2011! Why is it a surprise win if we won it in 2008 and 2009?!
