This post brought to you by Snapdragon by Qualcomm. All opinions are 100% mine.
So it’s not a permanent change, but during the time span starting December 18th through December 28th, Qualcomm Stadium will be changing it’s name to Snapdragon Stadium.
The reason why it will be called Snapdragon is to introduce the new Snapdragon processors that will be used in many Qualcomm devices. Snapdragon processors by Qualcomm are the digital brains inside mobile devices made by top manufacturers like Samsung, LG, Nokia, and HTC.
During this time span, Snapdragon Stadium will play host to numerous sporting events! It will host a Sunday Night Football game that features the San Diego Charges vs the Baltimore Ravens and two college bowl games. The first college bowl game will be the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl which will be played on December 21, and the second college bowl game is the Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl to be played on December 28.
This type of renaming for a stadium has never been done before and is very exciting! During the 11 days, every existing Qualcomm sign will be wrapped in a Snapdragon dressing, and the company will employ other media as part of a larger branding campaign for Snapdragon. Snapdragon Stadium will be the fourth name for the stadium, which opened in 1967 as San Diego Stadium and became Jack Murphy Stadium in 1980, in honor of the former San Diego Union sports columnist.
Please feel free to leave your comments below and let us know what you think of the renaming of the stadium and what you think of the new Snapdragon processors by Qualcomm!
